I found the problem.
No o ring at all! Just sealant.
I will have to have a word with my engine rebuild mate.

I’ve posted the old one to Alex so he can do some more engineering magic.

I need some help identifying these wires and where they go.

These one come out by the front nearside headlamp.



And these ones in the engine on the nearside. I haven’t plugged anything to the radiator yet. Looks like the three pin one might fit but it’s a bit short to reach. Have I routed them the wrong way?

The 3 pin flat connector looks like the otter switch (bottom of main rad) for some reason the wiring to this is always tight..

The other one may be for something on the AC rad?

Could be as it has the correct steel clip on the cable

I think it is the speedo pick up. Don't think I've connected that yet. I will have another look tomorrow.

What wires go to the air con compressor? I haven't got one to check the connections on. Could it be the other wires in the first pic above? Or maybe an alarm box? Don't have one of those either.

The thee wires are connected to a relay plate. The 3pin is for the radiator

Thanks rxl. That explains a lot. What is the relay plate for and where does it bolt to the car?

Ah yes I didn’t see the third wire with the cable lug, it’s actually not a relay plate it’s a resistor plate for the different fan speeds
