The good news is I doubt you’ll need a new wastegate. The bad news is figuring out what to do next. I’d be tempted to put it back as is (assuming it worked) and seek counsel from the great and the good as to either leaving it or reverse engineering it.

No, I just trying to put the car back to standard, so would like the original parts. It's also insured as "No modifications" so as I now know this is a mod (and a bad one at that) I would prefer the unmodified parts.
Well I think I answered my own question about walking into a world of pain.. The answer plain & simple is yes I did...
