What a project!! I have been keeping and eye on this thread since I joined about Christmas time last year and am very impressed with the amount of effort that you have obviously put in,- NICE ONE
Anyway in answer to you question about the sub frame mounts. You may as well do it, you have put so much effort into stiffening the chassis up so far you may as well go the whole hog!!1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

It is yes.
Very last bits of cage in. Well i said it was the end of the car last time but this time it realy is. Perhaps!
It all needs welded up yet and the upright tubes need leveled off.
It is in there to add some lateral strength accross the car and also to strengthen up where the rear subframe bolts to.

A couple of cheeky pics of the shifter in position.

Its taken up some time!
The plate that is welded to the floor under the new sections extends over where the rear subframe points are welded onto the floor. Also i put a seat belt bolt through the plate and tightened that in and welded it as well, so it should put huge strength into that rear floor/ subframe pick up point area.Comment

Managed to get the fuel tank mounted this weekend. Had to make a base for the tank to sit on as the boot floor is far from flat. Then i bent some straps up for the tank.
I also made a template for the firewall so it can get bent full size on a folder. Should be able to get it folded this week so i can weld it in next weekend.
The pannels are due pretty soon, so that should be a good day! I have also managed to get a full drivetrain from a turbo UR Quattro. Hopefully it will take the planned power!

Cheers! It wont flex much!
Got the tunnel chopped and changed around today to accept the S1 shifter. I had to modify the hole for the rod first. It then had to be welded further up the tunnel so the s1 shifter rod could work. Both the shifter and the handbrake now have captive nuts welded to the underside of the plate to bolt them down.

Well the best day of the build so far! The pannels have arrived. Everything is there bar the rear wings which are coming from Tonks so hopefully they will land soon! Obviously everything is miles out as its just taped on! However it looks like they dont need much work to sort the pannel gaps and alignment.
