New S2 Avant Nothelle N300 owner

Seats came out 8/10
I bought a B4 brake servo for conversion at a later date.
And, wait for it (drum roll)
I connected a battery and turned the key.........
Nothing happened
Poor earth connection in boot
Sorted that.......,,, turned they key. ........
A few clicks.
So, after a while I swapped the small wire on the starter, and then .............
Lots of clicks but engine not turning over. I took the starter off and it is working but not engaging in the flywheel.
Given up for tonight as it’s 2 centigrade outside.

The tee in the vacuum hose goes through the bulkhead in the large AC pipe grommet and is the vac source for the recirc flap on the AC box.
Sounds like a weak battery. Also, did you remember to fit the earth strap?

Battery showing 13v. Earth connected and good. I found some corrosion on the starter connections, cleaned them up but haven't tried again yet.Nothelle S2 Avant

You have AC, diff lock and MAP sensor (ECU) = 3
The one tee'd off the vac reservoir should go to the AC recirc solenoid. ECU & diff lock are connected direct to the intake.
That yellow thing is a check valve - you need the ECU to read MAP
Likewise you can't engage the diff lock under load, and there is a check valve inline to the diff lock controller.

Put a fresh battery in the car and put the starter motor back in. Getting one big click from the starter motor area when I turn the key but engine not turning over at all. Plugs are out and engine turns over by hand no problem. The starter motor spins fine out of the car. Any ideas?

Knock the starter about with a hammer
Also, put a jump lead from battery to engine block to rule out the earth strap.
Do the same for the battery positive, but to the starter terminal.
You can also flash the main starter terminal over to the solenoid wire, which rules everything out.
