Have only one drivable car atm, my daily, and my wife likes it. So I have to put together another one quite fast.

thomas,maybe is the supercharger the problem for your turbo damage.the compressor wheel might not stand the supercharger pressure.
what type of bearings has the turbo?

It's a standard journal bearing. I did run the stock hx40 twincharged for quite long time without issues.

A friend of me has had the same problem. Its not a mapping problem, this happens when clearance pisten to bore is no more correct(oval)

That could be a potential cause. After all, the piston to bore clearance was on the bigger side(of factory spec) and I did only hand hone the bores when I put together the engine. So for sure they have been oval, and also some taper.

Plus on low rpm if pistons have load they tend to twist.Supercharger may colaborate this.
Just the mechanical theory.

It's hard for me to see as I'm just using my phone but isn't the damage to the piston just due to the weak (at this power level)stock pistons melting or breaking down? I'm sure the ring land has collapsed and the cylinder was also damaged? Get some fcp forged pistons. I have some for my stroker urq and they seem good size and quality. Not too expensive too.

Yes, a nice set of new FSR pistons would be nice. I have a kit of JE's but I would need one new as the piston pin hole is slightly damaged due broken pin. I think it could be possible to order one piston. But then one piston, new ring kit and new piston pinns... We are not far away from a full JE piston kit price wise.

Maybe just now it's time to finally put together the stroker.

Was in the garage for a while in the evening, drawing lots of what engine to put together. Decided to build a second ghetto engine, now even ghettoer than the last one. No need for any machining etc. so fast and easy to finish. Good thing with this is also that I can safely experiment with my M112 and K31, get everything working properly and then trow in the properly build stroker engine.

Had a crank laying on the shelf that needed some care.










Special damper with an extra pulley. Centered it in the lathe, and will mig weld it at work tomorrow.
