He told something of 8400rpm's...
Here is some info of wich can also be the reason for oilpump failure. One guy on our finnish forum linked this:Originally posted by Jeff GernerIn the case of our engine, we were dealing with huge amounts of torsional deflection in the crank shaft. This happens when power levels exceed about 160 H.P. per cylinder in the Audi 5 cylinder with a stock crankshaft. Our engine was producing in excess of 200 H.P. per cylinder. In any event, it is the nose of the crank shaft that drives the oil pump, so these terrible torsional vibrations get passed directly into the oil pump gears. This, combined with sustained RPM over 9000, proved to be more than the stock pump could endure. The gears inside the oil pump shattered and when our Accu Sump oil pressure accumulator had exhausted its capacity, we had zero oil pressure.
Editor’s Note: A few months ago I heard about a man named Jeff Gerner and his amazing 242MPH run at Bonneville. I knew that I just had to get his story. Not just for the purpose of publishing, but as a true Audi enthusiast and Bonneville 130MPH club member (aka “rookie status”) I just … Continue reading The World’s Fastest Audi: 242 MPH Audi S4

Back to topic. Had a couple of hours today to test the diy engine crane... works like a charm. Got the engine out without problems.

Edit. Well, luckily I remember to loosen the crank bolt before the engine liftout.
Made also a locking tool for it.

Did a poor boys porting to the head, the notch alround the ex-outlet was so irritating.

Propably the benefit of this is zero, but it doesn't irritate anymore.
Got also a new "spare" AAN-block, well actually the old one gona be the spare one.

Waiting to get the new crank, rods and pistons next week. Then we have to bring the block to the motor shop for re-boring and send the crank(incl. postons and rods), damper and flywheel out for balancing...

This week I got the most important bits.
Next the block boring and crank balancing.
Thanks to audi90rs2 for the pistons and rods, and to spink for the crank.

JE's 8,5:1 CR, size 82,5mm. I hope the ~100cc more engine size will compensate the lower CR..?

Compensate?
Until 8.0:1, compression drop is pure win for power on this engine in any situation.
Come on, put it together so it stays together and get it mapped... slowly your project is turning into Jamo II

Well, by compensate I mean the engine torque/power below the boost levels when driving light.

All rod weights was between 592-593g. All pistons 303-304g. Total weight including pin, rings and clips 1kg.

Question about my old rods(spare block build), would you use a rod like this?

What rods are theese?(the spare ones)
One looks heated, but does not look like bearing failure.
How deep did you sanded the bearings seat? You may have a surprize when mounting new bearings on good crank. The clearance may pass 0.05-0.08mm.It seems to much sanded.Maybe your camera is too good

It's not sanded, it's factory finish, Aronmatics rods. The bearing was bad and had heated up some.
